A factional fight in Labour looks set to boil over as left-wing mayor Jamie Driscoll, blocked from standing as a Labour candidate, prepares to speak out
from standing as a Labour candidate.
As Mr Driscoll’s current role will cease to exist when the new mayor is elected next year, the step effectively forces him from office. Labour sources have indicated the decision was due to Mr Driscoll’s refusal to distance himself from left-wing filmmaker Ken Loach, who was expelled from the party amid efforts to tackle the antisemitism.
