Padres push catching prospect Ethan Salas to Fort Wayne
The Padres are pushing their 17-year-old catching phenom to high Single-A Fort Wayne on Tuesday, a little more than two months into his professional career.
MLB.com lists Salas at No. 45 in its top-100. Baseball America has pushed him to No. 16 in its mid-season top-100. And The Athletic’s Keith Law moved Salas all the way to No. 4 in his mid-season top-60. That Salas, the product of a famous Venezuelan baseball family, would be a quick study is not a surprise in the organization.
“He had a lot of coming in,” Daly said. “We’ve tried to amplify it, but it’s a credit to his upbringing and the people around him.”
