Palestinian officials criticise International Criminal Court's report which says stipends given to the families of people killed or imprisoned by Israel could constitute a war crime
Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas reiterated his opposition to any US role as broker in talks with Israel, saying"whoever allows the United States to return as a partner or mediator in the peace process is crazy."
The Palestinians have long sought redress with international bodies such as the ICC for what they consider Israeli crimes. President Mahmoud Abbas's government appeared to have been caught off guard by the language of the criticism found in the report. Earlier this year, Israel withheld millions of dollars in tax revenues it collected on behalf of the Palestinian Authority equal to the sum of the Palestinian stipends.
