'Best night club in Liverpool. Will always have boss memories from there'
The Coconut Grove in Tuebrook was one of Liverpool's go-to places for a night out in the early 1980s.
In its hey-dey, the 'Cokey' was a thriving nightclub known for its tropical theme with the building also housing the Carlton Cinema as well as a café among other things during its history.Even on Monday nights the Cokey would be packed with people enjoying a night out, with many DJs beginning their careers at the club.
One man, a photographer who went by the name TOC66, who took photos from inside the derelict building, said: "I remember having my 13th birthday at the Carlton, it was a great place and at the time people would queue around the block to get in.
