LIVE: Paramedics go on second wave of strikes across Greater Manchester in row over pay - latest updates
Greater Manchester is set to be rocked by a second wave of historic strikes today, with paramedics, call-handlers, technicians and other North West Ambulance Service staff walking out in a row over pay.
The unions voted to strike in a dispute over the Government's 4 per cent pay award, with the UK's current rate of inflation standing at 11 per cent. Picket lines are to be manned across Greater Manchester, largely outside ambulance stations, with senior union figures set to visit striking workers later today close to Manchester Royal Infirmary in central Manchester.
