Instead, the teacher proposed a different solution for her daughter’s class: each student’s birthday could be celebrated with a pre-packaged meal. “Ummmm sorry. WHAT? They want you to send a meal for every kid instead of just a treat?” one mom exclaimed. “And also you’re allowed to bring in items that are open or have been made at home?”Then one parent took issue with the nutritional aspect, saying, “I would be super annoyed if another parent fed my child sugar and junk food at school. Especially when I go to so much effort preparing a healthy snack and lunch. This kind of birthday treat idea would not be permitted in Australia.
