Manchester festival Parklife must leave positive impact, director says
Parklife said it had taken "bold steps... over the past few years" to improve its sustainability
The two-day event, which takes place in Manchester in June, has announced a series of measures to reduce its impact "both locally and wider". A Parklife representative said it had taken "bold steps... over the past few years" to ensure that the "positivity and countless memories that come from the festival weekend are mirrored in its positive commitment to the environment both locally and wider".
Stopping vendors using single-use plastics and requiring the use of compostable cutlery, plates and cupsEncouraging the use of public transport to travel to and from the festivalThe representative said similar efforts in 2022 had seen about 335,000 recyclable cups used at the festival, which had cut plastic wastage by "the hundreds of thousands" across the weekend.
