As demand for international travel is at an all-time high, passport workers are feeling the weight of thousands of applications.

The passport center opened in March 2022 and is open to the public for appointments. It’s unclear why the times are longer, Goyal said, but the pandemic’s rules for social distancing in workspaces and different requirements made it difficult to do the same processes.
