'That deal is done. I am more than happy with what I am currently earning.'
Late Late Show host Patrick Kielty has revealed he didn't go looking for a bump in his salary ahead of his second season hosting the chat show.
The father-of-two says he feels more settled ahead of his return to our TV screens tonight compared to his debut last year. "I think with all of these things, things settle into a natural energy and I think there was a curiosity to the first series, you know 'who is this guy, can he walk and talk and steer the bus and all that kind of stuff?'
"The idea of getting your head around the show not coming from this building is very, very weird. I think the only thing I would say on it is that TV is about moments and TV studios look the same." Patrick hopes his wife, ITV This Morning host, Cat Deeley, will make it over and sit in the audience this season. He told The Irish Mirror: "The two boys will be in bed on Friday and Cat will not be with us on Friday. She wants to get over to a show."
And in the middle of his health woes, the host travelled to the Vatican with fellow comedians such as Tommy Tiernan, Ardal O'Hanlon, Chris Rock and Whoopi Goldberg to meet the Pope. "There was only me, Chris Rock and Jimmy Fallon in the Vatican wearing sunglasses. Now obviously, they are two stars and you could see everyone looking at me thinking 'he's clearly a w***ker'."
