It’s a very tricky role, because he’s this psychopath who ruins his own life through pettiness and jealousy, and you needed to reach for something that was maybe more Method. How did you figure out how to play that part? It was with the help of a director who had offered me the role. This character was a horrible guy—I just couldn’t connect with him. I didn’t know what to do.
