But less than two weeks until kickoff, a pair of Penn State standouts were recognized nationally yet again.
Penn State did not have any players named to the AP’s second team, and the AP does not put out a third team. So no other Nittany Lions — from Nick Singleton to Chop Robinson to Abdul Carter — were mentioned. Fashanu is a team captain and one of the best linemen in the country. The 6-foot-6, 319-pounder, who could have left for the 2023 NFL draft and is projected to be a first-round pick next April, will anchor Penn State’s front this fall.
King thrived opposite Joey Porter Jr. last season, ranking second in the FBS with 18 pass breakups. After nabbing an interception in the Rose Bowl, King has continued his stellar play into the offseason and has emerged as a leader in the secondary.Penn State was one of five teams with two first-team All-Americans, joining LSU, Washington, Michigan and Iowa. Ohio State had three — receivers Marvin Harrison Jr.
