A row of five cottages caught fire overnight as fire crews battled a blaze that ripped through a thatched roof.
Around 70 firefighters rushed to a row of five cottages which went up in flames this morning.
Upon arrival they evacuated all residents from the row of houses as a safety precaution while waiting for firefighters to arrive at the scene.Although the official cause of the fire is not yet clear, the five houses share a thatched roof which is thought to have caught fire and spread rapidly across the terraces.
The incident was first reported on the official Suffolk Fire and Rescue Service Twitter account at 3.12am.Residents were evacuated from the buildings as a precaution and there have been no injuries
