The trust said it would like to reassure the public it is working with the fire service to coordinate a response. It added that patients were not evacuated and there has been no disruption to A&E, which remains open. A spokesperson for Herts Fire and Rescue Service confirmed the immediate area was evacuated, and footage shows a section was cordoned off with several fire crews and police present.A spokesperson said:"Women in labour or requiring urgent care should still arrive as usual where they will be escorted into the Women’s and Children’s building.
