Police and paramedics rushed to the scene but a person was confirmed to have dead. The incident is not being treated as suspicious.The incident resulted in cancellations, delays and closures on the West Coast Mainline between Preston and Lancaster, affecting trains across the country.A spokesperson for British Transport Police said: “Officers were called to the tracks near Preston Railway Station at around 9:56am today following a report of a casualty on the tracks.
“Officers and paramedics attended but sadly a person was pronounced deceased.
