York City police Capt. Daniel Lentz confirmed to PennLive that someone has been identified, but said officers “have much more investigating to do” before charges can be filed in connection to abuse that happened around 9 p.m. last Wednesday.The German Shepherd — which survived and has since been named “Chance” — was found bleeding, seriously injured and unconscious.
Chance is recovering at the York County SPCA. He suffered a shattered eye socket, broken jaw, cuts and bruises, and possibly a concussion during the beating, according to“He’s got a lot of swelling, he’s got some fractured limbs, we need to put some weight on him,” Steven Martinez, executive director of the York County SPCA, toldOfficials said the dog’s progress was thanks to donations to the Second Chance Fund, which covers the expenses of saving vulnerable pets.
