Spurs managing partner Peter J. Holt said Wednesday the state of the franchise is in “great shape” after the club announced San Antonio-based Victory Capital as its naming rights partner for its new Northwest Side performance center.Holt’s comments came after the Spurs officially announced their partnership with the global investment management firm at a news conference at Victory Capital’s headquarters.
Victory Capital ranked 55th on Fortune’s list of the 100 fastest-growing companies for 2022, according to a Spurs news release. It is one of only 24 companies to appear on the list for a second straight year. Holt said the Spurs hope to move into the Victory Capital Performance Center at The Rock at La Cantera in time for the start of the 2023-24 training camp in September. Meanwhile, the Spurs are still searching for a new naming rights sponsor for their arena.
Adding Victory Capital as a partner comes at a time when some community leaders have questioned the Spurs’ commitment to San Antonio after they added Michael Dell, the Austin-based billionaire who runs Round Rock-based Dell Technologies Inc., to their ownership group in 2021 and entered into a multiyear deal last summer with Austin-based Self Financial Inc. as a jersey sponsor.
