Hundreds of people have signed an online petition asking for documents related to the arrest of Richard Allen in the Delphi murders to remain sealed.
urges the Carroll County prosecutor to keep sealed the probable cause affidavit related to the 2017 murder of two Delphi, Ind., teens.During a press conference Oct. 31, 2022, Carroll County Prosecutor Nicholas McLelan called"unusual," a move he said was necessary to protect the integrity of the ongoing investigation. A judge granted the request to seal the charging documents and the probable cause affidavit until a public hearing would decide if it is unsealed.
The petition, started by Rebecca Dunaway, cites Indiana law that allows for a request"that shows dissemination of the record will create a significant risk of substantial harm or a prejudicial effect to ongoing proceedings that cannot be avoided if the record is released."
