Jurgen Klopp will leave Liverpool at the end of the season but former Reds captain Phil Thompson believes that his ideal replacement is already at the club.
Liverpool legend Phil Thompson believes that Pep Lijnders is the right person to take over from Jurgen Klopp. According to Thompson, Lijnders could make a smooth transition into the role next season.
"I don't think he'd have too many objectors , Liverpool fans, if they know enough about the club and the people behind the scenes and the back-up staff for Jurgen," the ex-Reds centre-back shared on talkSPORT. But Lijnders himself appears to want to be a manager somewhere else. "Nobody will replace Jurgen. I was clear, to be honest, when we had the talk a long time ago for me it was clear and it made it easier for me," he explained. "We agreed to finish this project together and it is the right way to do it. They will find a new coach with ideas and I am excited to manage, to find the right club.
