The 18 homemade candles arrived from Austria and were bound for Florida when they were intercepted by U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers in Philadelphia.
The officers found ketamine hydrochloride, a Schedule III non-narcotic compound concealed inside the candles shipped to an address in North Miami Beach, Florida, according to a news release from U.S. Customs and Border Protection.
Along with other club drugs, ketamine is popular among teens and young adults at dance clubs and raves. It delivers hallucinogenic effects and is sometimes used to facilitate sexual assault crimes.” The substance was tested and determined to be ketamine hydrochloride.
