The Belgian suffered his fourth defeat in five games against Brendan Rodgers as he awaits his first derby victory
Philippe Clement appealed for calm at Ibrox as he vowed his Rangers side will be a far better match for Celtic by the time they square off again in January.
But Clement is adamant his new-look side will be better by the time Rodgers’ side head across the city for their New Year clash on January 2. Asked if he agreed there was a growing chasm between the teams, the Rangers manager said: “No, we will see in January. So of course, Celtic is now a team that started playing already more than one year. Some guys are playing two, three years together. Of course there is more automatism between players and to do the right things at the right moment.
But Clement conceded he needs the support and patience of the Ibrox faithful if he’s to get his team up to the required level. He said: “There’s no other choice, of course. “But that's normal with so many new players and so many young players. Look at the average age of the starting eleven of Celtic today and our team today. So the best is by far yet to come with this squad. I've seen a lot of good things in the training, in the games, the last games today also. In the beginning, in the reaction in the second half. But we need to reward ourselves. That's a very, very important part of football.
