Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin says Justin Fields will get his opportunity to compete for the starting quarterback position when ready.
The Pittsburgh Steelers shocked the entire league when they acquired not one but two starting-level quarterbacks, Russell Wilson and Justin Fields. First came Wilson; he signed with Pittsburgh on March 15 after two forgettable seasons with the Denver Broncos. The next day, the Steelers traded with the Chicago Bears for Fields. The Steelers only gave up a conditional sixth-round pick in the 2025 NFL draft. Now, the Steelers sit with two quarterbacks.
The 25-year-old quarterback was the starting quarterback for the Chicago Bears for the last two seasons. The Bears traded Fields and are expected to draft USC star quarterback Caleb Williams in the upcoming draft. He recorded subpar numbers in Chicago, with a 10-28 record. He completed 578 passes for a completion percentage of 60.3%, 40 touchdowns, 30 interceptions, and a passer rating of 82.3.
