The state is completing plans for an estimated $6.5 million nature-like fish passage at the Fabridam that forms Lake Augusta on which the boat will cruise.
NORTHUMBERLAND – Plans for a paddle wheeler to cruise the West Branch of the Susquehanna River upstream from Sunbury in 2023 have hit a snag back but they are not sunk.
Efforts already are underway to find a new boat, he said. There are some boats out there but they are far away, he said. Railroad bridges with low clearances likely would prevent cruises on the river’s North Branch, he said. Officials with both of those boats have been very cooperative, Lagerman said. It will be a like a paddleboat trail that will give people the opportunity to see river in three different areas, he said.
Like the other two paddle boats it would offer special cruises and could be rented for events like weddings and reunions, said Lagerman, who has beenThe boat is not the only major development planned on the river in that area. Its length of nearly 900 feet will allow fish to gain approximately 10 feet in elevation to get them into Lake Augusta.
