The popular chain will construct a new retail pod in a currently empty section of the station with signage and storage to also be built. Submitted by the business, the application was approved by Glasgow City Council's planning committee on September 12.
Consent was granted to the plans with conditions in place to ensure the character of station's listed building status is safeguarded.The application submitted by Greggs reads: "The development involves fitting out of the pod unit and remote store to form a Greggs retail bakery shop. "The shop is a pod unit currently under construction, with a remote store. The front area of the ground floor is to be used for retail sales to the general public with the remainder of the building used for ancillary uses, ie preparation, staff room, toilets etc.
"The entrance is level, with automatic sliding doors which are locked open during trading hours that provides adequate provision for access for the disabled. As we have an Open Door trading policy, there will be unrestricted access at all times."
