Simon Jordan calls out Plymouth Argyle owner Simon Hallett for not taking on board Wayne Rooney's previous managerial jobs and questions his appointment
Simon Jordan challenged Plymouth 's chairman Simon Hallett live on air over the club's appointment of Wayne Rooney .When asked what made him pick the former England boss out of their final candidates, Simon Hallett admitted he had not expected to choose Rooney, but was blown away by his interview.
"Results were particularly poor at Birmingham over the course of 15 games, which is probably not long enough to be statistically significant. "At Derby though, he still managed to improve the defence. At DC United, a limited number of games, but DC United's attack was strengthened, DC United's defence was - more modestly - strengthened."So we believe anyway that you can't just look at results, you have to look at the impact the manager has on the team. You have to look at the data, the underlying performances before the manager arrives and afterwards.
He then joined former club DC United, but they parted ways just over a year after his appointment as the club failed to qualify for the play-offs for a second season in a row."The orthodoxy of thinking is you have to take results into consideration," Jordan added. "You have to take results into the thinking process."
