A masked man brandished a gun at a U.S. mail carrier Tuesday morning and fled police, later escaping police, officials said.
The person, who may have been armed, fled into the woods from Tomahawk Drive; anyone who sees someone suspicious was urged to be cautious
It wasn't immediately clear if anyone was hurt. The person being sought, believed to be in his late teens or early 20s, was wearing a mask and a dark-colored sweatshirt, according to police, who shared alerts in the area amid their dragnet. Soon afterward, officers spotted a speeding vehicle on Whipple Road, but the driver bailed out when it reached the area of Tomahawk Drive, police said.Groups of armed police officers and K-9 units were seen searching street by street. The gun was found behind a home on Grasshopper Lane, police said, and the search included Nightengale Lane, where a resident said they spotted the man.
