A PSNI spokesperson said the pair appeared to sit in prayer at the church for 15 minutes before the man gained entry to the sacristy
The incident happened at St Patrick’s Church, Dungannon on Friday 30 December, with two people being observed on CCTV entering the church.
"Unfortunately, during the afternoon of Friday 30 December 2022, between 2.30pm - 3.00pm, we had a break in, when a man and a woman entered the Church, and the man forced open the door from the Altar into the Sacristy,” the statement said.
