Police said the flyers contained “negative ranting about Jewish culture”
Police are investigating a hate incident in Saratoga after a resident found an antisemitic flyer on the windshield of his car Wednesday morning.
The Santa Clara County Sheriff’s Office reported that there may have been multiple flyers with “negative ranting about Jewish culture,” placed on cars around town. Saratoga resident Michael Malter found the flyer on his car Wednesday morning on his drive to work, after leaving his home near the intersection of Cox Avenue and Saratoga-Sunnyvale.
“I pulled over and pulled it out, and discovered that it is a disgusting, antisemitic screed about all Jews being sexual perverts,” Malter said. “It’s especially upsetting because I’m Jewish. This is the purest hate crime I’ve ever dealt with in my 69 years.”at homes in the Marin communities of Ross and San Anselmo on April 21.
“The Sheriff’s Office has a zero-tolerance policy against any and all forms of hate,” the sheriff’s department wrote in a statement. “The Sheriff’s Office strongly encourages anyone who believes that they may have been the victim of a hate crime or hate incident to contact the Santa Clara County Sheriff’s Office or their local law enforcement agency.“
