Police were told the suspect had run off before they arrived at the scene
The force were called to Brougham Avenue in Tranmere, Wirral, at around 4am on Tuesday, October 10, following reports of an incident. Once officers arrived at the scene they found a man in his 40s had been stabbed in the back and neck.
Police were told the suspect had run off in the direction of Orchard Court and Quigley Street. In an update to The ECHO this afternoon, Merseyside Police confirmed the man is now in a stable condition. A cordon remained in place today, while high visibility patrols were also in the area to reassure the local community.Detective Inspector Andrew Schofield said: "We are in the very early stages of investigating this incident and would appeal to anyone with information to please come forward.
"If you live in the area, please check your CCTV cameras to see if you captured anything at around the time of the incident. Any piece of information could prove vital to our enquiries.
