He said he did it 'because he owed money to a takeaway chef'
A former police officer has been found guilty of gross misconduct after he was caught working as a Just Eat delivery driver while off sick.
At a misconduct hearing, held today at Ormskirk Police Station, Chief Constable Sacha Hatchett described the allegations against the former officer. "He explained he had borrowed money from the chef of a takeaway and had not repaid that debt. He said he helped with deliveries during busy periods. "He did have a registered business interest to provide caddying services at Royal Lytham which was approved on June 24, 2019, and on June 27, 2023 it was decided it should be suspended whilst the former officer was off work on sick leave," Chief Constable Hatchett said.
