Two women are wanted on murder and accessory charges in the February 2021 killing of Shaquoia Bass-Moody, who left behind a then-1-year-old daughter.
OAKLAND — Nearly two years after a 27-year-old woman was gunned down during a fight in East Oakland, two women have been charged in connection with the killing and attempts to cover it up.Alameda County prosecutors filed charges of murder and assault with a firearm against 20-year-old Dakota Williams, and assault and accessory charges against Anna M. Wade. But, while both women were arrested last year — before the charges were filed — their current whereabouts are unknown.
Video surveillance of the incident shows Bass-Moody retrieving a frying pan and striking the window of a black Lexus SUV. The driver’s side passenger then fires shots from a pistol at Bass-Moody, fatally striking her in the neck, according to police. Police then issued a warrant for Williams’ arrest, though prosecutors still hadn’t filed the case at that point. In September 2021, Williams was arrested near a family’s residence in Stockton, after allegedly trying to evade a U.S. Marshals task force, authorities say. She admitted to firing a gun during the fracas but denied that she’d hit anybody, according to court records.
