Ministers are scrapping these rules, designed to ensure a development or project does not dangerously increase nutrient levels in local wetlands and waterways in protected areas. The prime minister was in the city to visit a new-build estate and mark a government move to relax environmental rules for new housing developments.
He urged airlines to continue doing"all they can" to support those who were affected by yesterday's disruption to flights. "Airlines are clear about their responsibilities to their customers and I stand ready to provide further appropriate support from the government should the industry request it. Scottish Labour said, as an active investigation was ongoing, it would make no formal comment on the matter.
The incident on Bank Holiday Monday meant flight plans had to be uploaded to systems manually, slowing or cancelling air traffic across the country.
