Fed-up southsiders say they have had enough of the 'organised display of anti-social behaviour' which has come to mark November 5 in the under-siege Glasgow neighbourhood.
Furious Pollokshields residents have reacted to another year of Bonfire Night carnage as gangs of youths and adults pelted vehicles, buildings and locals with fireworks.
Glasgow Live has also seen images of a bonfire started in the middle of Albert Drive which appears to have damaged the road. Clips were also shared online of fireworks being lobbed along the street - striking buildings and forcing residents to take shelter inside while the emergency services were forced to look on for fear of attacks.
Usman Butt wrote: "This cannot continue, simple. We need to stop this from happening again. Enough is enough. Four years it's been getting worse and worse and my kids are in tears. My neighbours with new babies are distraught and finally my other neighbour feared for all the street cats. George Somerville added: "Once again we have the police and fire brigade in our street on Nov 5th. Again I express my anger at the absolute incompetence of Glasgow City Council in dealing with this. For those that will inevitably say it’s fireworks for the kids, these “fireworks” are setting off car and shop alarms.
Police Scotland has launched an investigation into the incidents of disorder the Herriet Street and Albert Drive areas and officers are asking anyone with information to come forward and assist in their investigation.
