Otro de los grandes triunfadores de la Mostra ha sido el italiano Matteo Garrone, que ha conmovido y sacudido conciencias con su relato sobre la inmigración subsahariana “Io capitano”, por la que ha obtenido el León de Plata al mejor director. “No a la impunidad”, reivindicó el director de películas como “Jackie” o “Spencer” al recoger el premio, pocos días antes de que su país, Chile, conmemore los 50 años del golpe de Estado.
“Este trabajo se basa en la conexión humana y toda la experiencia humana no puede ser entregada a las máquinas”, ha advertido el intérprete. “Si perdemos esa batalla, nuestra industria será la primera de muchas en caer”.
