It's a tough time to be a pop-culture junkie. Still, there's a silver lining: All the time we're not spending on new media is time we can devote to catching up on things we missed.

I know most of the characters’ names , who dies and what song plays at the end of the finale. I know these things not because I’ve seen “The Sopranos,” but because everyone else has. TV is such a time commitment, I prefer to let other people vet shows for me before I jump on a bandwagon. Problem is, sometimes I lose sight of the bandwagon. I’ve already burned through my smaller blind spots , so I’m going to put my neglected HBO subscription to work and mainline all six seasons of “The Sopranos.

I was reticent about this because I’m so very tired of “Star Wars” stories going back to the prequel era , but I’m glad I did.
