Portillo’s is a Chicago restaurant with a focus on Dallas-Fort Worth.
One of the reasons the company is excited about Texas is because it’s the No. 1 state for mail-order Portillo’s food. With the company’s, homesick Chicagoans can order the fixins for Italian beef sandwiches, hot dogs, the company’s popular chocolate cake and more. If Texans are willing to spend $185.99 to ship the ingredients for 20 Italian beef sandwiches to their homes, perhaps they’d also like a freestanding restaurant nearby, says CEO Michael Osanloo.
For those new to Portillo’s, Osanloo says the best thing to get is the Italian beef sandwich. The beef is slow-roasted, thinly shaved and dunked in beef broth called gravy. The beef is served layered on French bread. Most customers like to see their sandwich dunked back in the gravy one more time, making for a meal that requires lots of napkins.During the Beef Bus’ time in Allen, staffers will also be conducting interviews for open positions at the coming-soon Portillo’s.
