COVID-19 is associated with an increased risk of developing gastrointestinaldisorders, shows study
Compared with IBS induced by bacterial infections and other DGBI, fewer studies have evaluated the incidence of these syndromes following viral infection. Additionally, the long-term consequences of COVID-19 infection on the gastrointestinal tract remain unclear due to the limitations of previous studies, including small sample size, limited follow-up, lack of controls and retrospective design.
Eligible patients were≥18 and ≤85 years of age, with or without a diagnosis of COVID-19 according to the WHO definition ,with symptoms severe enough to warrant hospital admission, and recruited from May to October 2020. Patients were excluded if they were unable to conform to study protocol , or were diagnosed with concurrent cancer.
