Are we looking at another severe weather outbreak later this week? wxjerdman has all the details:
Severe weather could be most widespread on Friday, but might also linger into Saturday.Sign up for the Morning Brief email newsletterA potential outbreak of severe thunderstorms is possible late this week in the Plains and Midwest, including the threat for tornadoes, damaging thunderstorm winds and hail from Texas to the Mississippi Valley.
The primary threats from any thunderstorms that form would be large hail, possibly to baseball size; tornadoes; and damaging thunderstorm wind gusts. As a strong low-pressure system kicks out into the nation's midsection, a more expansive threat of severe thunderstorms is in play for Friday and Friday evening in the Mississippi Valley, from Iowa and Illinois south into Arkansas, parts of northern Mississippi and western Tennessee.
Threats include tornadoes, damaging thunderstorm winds and hail in these areas, particularly those shaded in the darkest contour below. At least a few severe thunderstorms are possible Saturday from the Ohio Valley and Great Lakes into the East, perhaps from Florida to the Northeast. Damaging thunderstorm wind gusts could be the main concern. There might also be strong winds not associated with thunderstorms in the Midwest and East as the strong low-pressure system sweeps through.
