A powdery substance has been found on a ballot in Adams County and an investigation is ongoing, according to the clerk and recorder.
Once discovered, the ballot was isolated and election officials contacted the Adams County Sheriff’s Office, Zygielbaum said.
Initial test results on the substance came back negative for narcotics, explosives and biological agents. Further testing is being done by a state laboratory, Zygielbaum said. The state test results will come back next week, five days after the substance was submitted. The Thornton Police Department and the FBI are part of the ongoing investigation.
