Abbas Ali Soleimani, a member of the Assembly of Experts that determines the direction of Iran's rule by selecting the supreme leader, was shot from behind in a bank in city of Babolsar.CCTV camera footage released by Tasnim news agency showed the security guard, wearing a blue and white jacket, shooting Abbas Ali Soleimani from behind as he was sitting in a chair at the bank.
"So far, our information and documents indicate that this was not a security or terrorist act," Hosseinipour told state television, adding that the assailant did not know the cleric. Under the constitution, the 88-strong Assembly of Experts is mandated with supervising, dismissing and electing the Supreme Leader.
