Diogo Jota should not have been sent off during Liverpool's controversial 2-1 defeat to Tottenham on Saturday, according to the Premier League's Independent Key Match Incidents Panel.
After his first booking, Jota was shown a second yellow card for a lunge on Udogie less than 120 seconds later, with referee Simon Hooper quick to brandish a second yellow card in the Portugal international's direction. Jota's dismissal saw Liverpool reduced to nine men after Curtis Jones had been shown a red card in the first half for a challenge on Yves Bissouma, which Hooper had upgraded from a yellow card after a consultation with the Video Assistant Referee. On Tuesday, Liverpool's appeal to have Jones' three-match ban overturned was rejected by the Football Association.
