Clayton Valley Charter ended Campolindo’s 36-game league win streak on Wednesday night, prevailing at home 74-66.
Jake King , James Moore and Elijah Perryman led the way for the Ugly Eagles in Diablo Athletic League Foothill Division play. Clayton Valley, the Bay Area News Group’s sixth-ranked team, extended its winning streak to six games and improved to 14-2 overall and 3-0 in the league. That’s an impressive resume for a team that lost 10 seniors from last season’s North Coast Section Division I championship squad.
“We are very young, but we don’t rebuild here,” Clayton Valley coach Frank Allocco Jr. said. “We’re going to develop players and the players on this team work incredibly hard.”Clayton Valley led 20-5 after one quarter and 42-24 at halftime. Campolindo cut the margin to four, but Clayton Valley held on.The teams will play again on Jan. 31 at Campolindo.Oakland opened up Oakland Athletic League play with a win on the road over Skyline .
