Staff Reports Laney Calhoun’s two-out single to left field in the bottom of the seventh inning brought home Savanna Kendrick to give the Dothan Wolves a walk-off 5-4 win over Enterprise Thursday night in Class 7A, Area 3 high school softball action at Dothan High.
After a ground out, Calhoun hit the first pitch she saw for a single to left to score Kendrick and win the game. G.W. Long 4, Ariton 0: G.W. Long’s Anna Claire Free pitched a complete-game no-hitter with 10 strikeouts and two walks to lead the Rebels over Ariton in a Class 2A, Area 3 game at Ariton. Maddie Williams had two hits and drove in four runs off a two-run single, an RBI double and a hit by pitch with the bases loaded.
Stormi Clemmons was 3-for-3 with two doubles, a triple and three runs batted in and Ava Allsup had an RBI double and a solo homer to pace the Rams. Shaylee Greathouse and Kiley Jenkins both had two hits with Jenkins driving in a run. Erika Torres was 3-for-3 with an RBI and Ally Henderson had two hits for Geneva. Kaden Ward added a hit and RBI and Isabelle Padgett drove in one run.
For Dale County, Ella Brooke Barefield, Ainyah Stokes and Leah Grace Snellgrove had a single each with Barefield driving in a run. In the opener, T.R. Miller’s Ollie Billingsley and Opp’s Resse Cauley had a great pitching duel with a solo homer by T.R. Miller’s Rebekah Rowell in the third inning the only scoring. Both pitchers threw a one-hitter. Billingsley walked one and didn’t strike out a batter in five innings, while Cauley struck out eight over four innings.For Opp, Bradleigh Lanier had a double and Cauley, Chloe Bentley and Riley Kate Thrash had a single each.
Karlee Lott, Laura Cate Trawick and Bailey Lackey all had three hits with Lott driving in three runs, Lee two and Lackey one. Chloe Lee and Mischa Ward had two hits each with Lee driving in two runs. Emma Reinelt added a triple and RBI. Ty Nodd had three runs batted in.For Samson, Molly Glisson had two hits and three runs batted in and both Karleigh Moore and Ava Sormrude had two hits with one RBI for Samson. Holly Warren added a single and RBI.
Kinston 18, Houston County 0: Lilli Sumblin and Adelyn Jarrell combined on a three-inning perfect game, striking out eight of the nine batters in the Class 1A, Area 2 game.
