Grannie Annie aged 87. A family from Preston have set up a football fundraiser for two charities close to their hearts. Sophie Burns, 28, and her family
After their ‘Grannie Annie’ as known by all who know her, was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s earlier this year at the age of 87, they wanted to do something for her.Sophie said: “Grannie Annie’s unwavering support and love have always been the bedrock of our family, but now, as Alzheimer’s slowly brings about changes, it’s our turn to be there for her.
Freddie’s Sunshine was set up by Mark and Aimee Beaumont in memory of Freddie George Beaumont, a ‘sunshine of a human who was taken too soon’. Sophie said: “They didn’t know what to do. Aimee and Mark felt completely lost having to leave the hospital without their precious little boy, and have to accept a new life without him living.”
The football fundraiser, on 6 July, will be at Fulwood Amateurs FC, who have let the family use their venue for free. It will cost £3 to get in, with the money raised being split equally between the two charities.
