Preston man who assaulted emergency workers handed suspended jail term
, assaulted emergency workers PC Smith and PC Chaudhury by beating them. Originally pleading not guilty to the charges brought before him, Atkinson, who was held in custody, changed his plea to guilty which was taken into account when imposing a sentence. His jail sentence had been suspended as he is now a father and the impact immediate incarceration would have on family.
