COLUMBUS, Ohio—State senators on Wednesday shifted into reverse on their proposal to raise speed limits on many state highways, a day after Gov. Mike DeWine indicated that he would veto the idea should it reach his desk.
The Senate Transportation Committee Chair Stephanie Kunze, a Columbus-area Republican, told reporters Wednesday that committee members thought it would be best to remove the speed-limit proposal after getting feedback from a number of sources -- including studies conducted by the Ohio Department of Public Safety after the last time the legislature raised speed limits, in 2013.
