'It’s killing me to see what they are doing. It’s making everybody upset'
A ‘protected’ bird has been found dead on a site where Mid Ulster District Council contractors have been cutting down trees and clearing brush over the past week.
A local woman who’s seriously concerned about the ongoing “destruction” by council operatives on the site of Maghera’s former High School has been documenting what’s been happening over the past week. But added: “The other side has been completely cleared of nests - it was too late. They tore out all the ragwort so we won’t have any cinnamon moths there.”
Despite thousands of objections, Mid Ulster Council passed its own controversial plan for the area before it was called in by the Department for Infrastructure. A decision is yet to be made.
