Duncan told reporters in Regina it’s about the highest single-year growth in about 20 years and higher than the school divisions projected this past spring. He said this will allow the divisions, especially those with pretty significant growth over and above what they thought they’d see, to have additional money to help add more teachers and possibly some portable classrooms.
“It just would have meant that school divisions, even school divisions that were seeing enrolment growth, would have seen a funding decrease based on what they were expecting in the spring,” he said. Duncan said it’s largely Saskatoon and Regina school divisions that are seeing the growth in enrolments.
