He currently serves as deputy chairman of the Security Council of Russia and is considered a major Kremlin propagandist. In an interview segment published on Saturday, Medvedev told the state-run news agencies Tass and RT that Western nations, not Russia, were pushing the world closer to a new world war. A similar sentiment has been echoed by pro-Russia voices since the start of the country's invasion of Ukraine in February 2022.

"Frankly speaking, it would have definitely been better if they had heard them [the signals]," Medvedev said."In any case, the world would not have to face the threat of World War III.
