The Russian President was recorded lighting a candle before a crucifix and crossing himself three times in a church located in the territory of the presidential residence in Novo-Ogaryovo.

Vladimir Putin lit a candle in memory of the victims of the Moscow concert hall attack today after Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky branded the Russian leader 'a low life b*****d' for trying to blame Kyiv for the massacre.

Zelensky dismissed the suggestion that Kyiv had been involved shortly after Putin's speech, saying: 'What happened yesterday in Moscow is obvious. Putin and the other b*****ds are just trying to blame it on someone else.' People gather at a makeshift memorial to the victims of a shooting attack set up outside the Crocus City Hall concert venue in the Moscow Region, Russia, March 24

Hundreds of people gathered at the concert hall today to pay their respects and lay down flowers as Russia declared a national day of mourning Russian foreign ministry spokesperson, Maria Zakharova, disregarded US intelligence reports stating that ISIS was behind the attacks and mocked on Telegram: 'I wish they could have solved the assassination of their own President Kennedy so quickly.'

As rescuers continue to search the building which went up in flames following the attack, some families still don't know if members who went to the event are alive. Events at cultural institutions were cancelled, flags were lowered, and TV entertainment and ads were suspended, according to state news agency RIA Novosti.Putin, 71, has vowed revenge and revealed that the four assailants that carried out the 'barbaric terrorist act' at the Crocus City Hall on Friday had been 'captured and detained' and warned that all those responsible 'would be punished'.

Chancellor Jeremy Hunt said to Sky News that the UK has 'very little confidence in anything the Russian government says'. The Russian President said in an a televised address to the nation on Saturday: 'Citizens of Russia, I am addressing to you in connection with the bloody, barbaric terrorist act, the victims of which were dozens of peaceful, innocent people, our compatriots, including children, teenagers, and women.''The whole country and our entire people are grieving with you. I declare March 24 a day of national mourning.

'The Federal Security Service of Russia and other law enforcement agencies are working to identify and uncover the entire terrorist support base: those who provided them with transport, planned escape routes from the crime scene, prepared caches, caches of weapons and ammunition.

'The attack comes within the context of a raging war between the Islamic State and countries fighting Islam,' Amaq added in a statement citing security sources. Macabre footage emerged of piles of bodies outside the concert venue. Hundreds of investigators and rescuers were still combing the smouldering scene early today.'We categorically reject accusations of Ukraine's alleged involvement in the shooting at the Crocus concert hall in Krasnogorsk near Moscow,' said the country's foreign ministry.

They issued a warning to citizens to avoid events for the next 48 hours which included festivities linked to International Women's Day, a major holiday in Russia. The US embassy reported on March 7 that it was 'monitoring reports that extremists have imminent plans to target large gatherings in Moscow, to include concerts, and U.S. citizens should be advised to avoid large gatherings over the next 48 hours'.
