RØDE's Wireless GO II microphones are now even better thanks to a recent firmware update and the launch of the new RØDE Capture video app.
Because of the usability improvements introduced by the latest firmware update and the RØDE Capture app, I thought I’d take a closer look at what else this affordable and portable wireless microphone system can do. Similar products on the market from brands like Joby, Anker and Boya are available, but RØDE is probably the leader in this field.

The buttons are for linking and adjusting gain.The transmitter and receiver units have a rechargeable battery that operates for around seven hours on a single charge. The transmitters also feature a 3.5mm input jack for connecting a Lavalier mic which can be more easily hidden on the presenter’s clothing.
As previously mentioned, the transmitter units have built-in memory for recording audio locally while simultaneously sending the signal to the receiver at the camera position. A recent firmware enables the Wireless GO II transmitter unit to be connected to a Mac or PC with a USB cable. Then, all the locally recorded sound files will show up on the computer, ready to be dragged and dropped....
I tried the Wireless GO II system using the new RØDE Capture app. These little devices work superbly well with a range of up to 200m and around 70m in more challenging conditions. The transmitter sends clear audio to the receiver with zero latency, making more interesting shots possible.... [+]
